Novobot 2.0 Harvests the Web for News and Saves Time Online

Proggle has released version 2.0 of Novobot, a smart extensible news ticker and headline viewer for Windows.

Novobot gathers news headlines from sites that offer syndicated newsfeeds in XML-based formats (RSS, Moreover, etc.), as well as from ordinary web pages with headline news. It comes with about a hundred predefined news channels divided into hierarchical categories, and a channel editor which is handy for webmasters willing to syndicate their newsfeeds to Novobot users. Novobot can update channels automatically over the Web from the Proggle channel directory. Users are notified about new and changed channels via a special newsfeed from Proggle.

Novobot runs in the background, retrieving news from channels users have selected, either once per run, or continuously. It displays headlines and links as a list in its main window, or in the news ticker that stays on top of other windows, fits a window title bar, and can be semitransparent under Windows 2000 or newer. Clicling on a headline launches default web browser and directs it to the headline source page.

Novobot remembers visited headlines and hides them in subsequent queue runs. It also remembers user's position in the headline list, so it is possible to retrieve headlines at one time, and browse them later.

Novobot has simple, attractive interface. It aggregates all relevant news into one place, saving time online and allowing its users to stay at the top of Web life.

Novobot license costs US$ 24.95. It is available for download as a 30-day trial from Proggle web site at http://www.proggle.com.
